Mike didn’t have a good hatch over the weekend on Spawn #35; I believe temperature issues were to blame.  Spawn #36 was laid on the afternoon of Thursday, June 26th, 2014.  If all goes according to plan that makes next Wednesday “hatch night”. Spawn #34 was a failure…I had run low on rotifers due to […]

I made a rare 8 PM trek down into the fishroom tonight (6/4/2014) and discovered the Lightning Maroon and her mate putting down Spawn #34. Based on how things are going, next Tuesday night should be the pull night. My attempt to get a second night’s hatch out of Spawn #33 utterly failed. I did […]

As of 5/13/2014, there were two fish from spawn #30 who had yet to undergo metamorphosis; the rest had. Trying to avoid past issues of small groups doing well and then just dying randomly, I selected 3 lightning juveniles and moved them into an empty black round tub that’s running on the larviculture system.  When […]

Before I forget – sometime on the afternoon of April 30th, 2014, Spawn #31 was laid.  That is all 😉

Yeah, spawn #30 was laid on 4-18-2014; I noticed it in the evening when feeding.  Large pale-orange batch on the far end of the vertical tile in their “tile tepee”.  That’s all.

Tonight, after several nights of battling my larval rack, I finally pulled of the split of Spawn #20 into two separate groups. Long story short, I had taken off two BRTs off a shelf that had somehow “Dropped” on the one side. Both BRTs got a full scrubbing followed by a wipedown with hydrogen peroxide. […]

I have photos of this spawn stashed away in the camera, but I figured I better get this on the books before I completely forget. Spawn #19 was put down on 12-14.  With tons of stuff going on with the holidays, I did a boneheaded thing and pulled the nest on the night of the […]

Today (11-16-2013), Spawn #17 was laid.  Spawn #14 is clearly showing both forms again (roughly 50/50 split of White Stripe and Lightning Offspring) and Spawn #15 has just completed metamorphosis.

Back on track it would seem…Spawn #14 appears to have completed metamorphosis.  Despite good care, and seemingly good success, I can’t estimate more than 25-30 offspring. Spawn #15 didn’t hatch as planned…only 2 babies the first night.  Small hatch the next night, and possibly more the following night.  Hard to tell how many larvae there […]

Was gone Monday and Tuesday…came back Tuesday night and discovered a BIG nest of Lighting Maroon Clownfish eggs…so we now have Spawn #15.  Was it laid on 10/28/2013, or 10/29/2013?  Not sure. Spawn #14 is doing well, no shortage of rotifers this time, lots of silver bellies.  I’m going to estimate that we had a […]
