8 days post hatch. To brine, or not to brine, that is the question.
First noticed this at roughly 1:30 PM on July 7th, 2012. Dare you to hold your breath…
so the pattern is starting to emerge…..
next 2 month is going to be great…
how many larvae are there now….?..i guess there won’t be much die off from this point…
My guess would be 50-100 larvae remain at this point.

you guys are doing a great job. congrats, to see you go through so much adversity in so little time, you guys in Minnesota rock. keep up the great work. Hope the adults get better. thanks for making the hobby alot more interesting and fun.
even if 20 survive that will be enough…a decent genetic pool to work with if something happen with lightning maroon….though i don’t know what BZA will decide…as far i remember you said back in 2010 that BZA had the right to accept or reject first two batch, right?
Amit, 20 is better than none, yes. Let’s just say this was a recessive trait; if so, all the offspring should carry one dose. If they do, then mating any two siblings together should result in roughly 25% Lightnings in the F2 generation. Yes, Blue Zoo still has the right of first refusal on the first couple batches of offspring I was able to produce; that’s a gentleman’s offer to them in return for the consideration they showed me when asking to take charge of this project in the first place.
i am hoping that some will have it more predominant than others….if one of them can be mated with lightning itself(provided it survives another 2-3 years),then a solid line will occur……we don’t know when will another wild lightning appear anyway….
