Lightning Maroon Clownfish Spawning & Eggs

The big question now is how I’m going to be dealing with the eggs / babies while I’m speaking to the Boston Reefers next weekend! Mike’s Maroons are on a 7 day schedule, and I can certainly bump up the temp a bit to encourage faster incubation so they hatch while I’m here. I would hate to botch this, and since it’s been a year since I pulled a clownfish nest it’s certainly a possibility. Who knows really. But we’re definitely getting closer. Looks like having Mike Doty, who is also now quite adept at reaing clowns, living 4 blocks away, is really, really a handy thing 🙂

how can a Talk get priority over this egg hatching event??

  It’s really easy how a talk can take priority – I’m a man who lives up to his commitments and word. Plane tickets are bought, plans are set, and they’ve been promoting it for weeks. I am absolutely not going to stiff the Boston Reefers, or any other organization, just because there’s a hatch going on back home…even if the Lightning Maroon is involved. Besides, if I want to be technical about it – I have never reared a Maroon Clownfish before, yet there’s a guy who lives 4 blocks away, and another 30 minutes away, both who have. So technically in this one regard, they’re more experienced breeders than me!
  Ultimately, these fish will be in capable hands in my absence, and since there’s no guarantees anyways, I’m not going to get overly anxious about it.

I agree with Matt. Egg hatching takes a backseat to honoring previous committments. That fish has gone through hell and still laid another batch of eggs. It seems to me there is plenty of batches to raise after those.
I hope you have great luck with them Matt. The last time I raised maroons, they were TINY larvae and they were mean little guys 🙂

I was wondering since you are moving into rearing offspring from these two if you would be willing to do a post on your technique going forward. As far as I see it there is a reason that you were intrusted with this fish (breading prowess) and would love to be privy to your technique.
I have read that your going out of town and don’t plan on being around for the hatch. It sucks that it worked out this but I think its cool that you are honoring your commitments.
If you have done something like what I’m asking on another site please just direct me there.
